Purpose:
Nursing Dashboards are integral to the dissemination of key patient outcome metrics. Staff nurses need to communicate and understand these outcomes to articulate clearly and easily. Magnet principles can be used to enhance staff understanding of patient outcomes by simplified design of NDBs.

Significance:
1.) Enhance communication of the Magnet principles to all members of the nursing staff; 2.) Assist staff to become more knowledgeable about nursing sensitive indicators and patient outcomes; and, 3.) Standardize unit based PI bulletin boards to enhance dissemination of each unit's Pt. outcomes.

Strategy and Implementation:
Historically, Nursing Dashboards (NDBs) included clinical indicators and administrative measures (HR, finance, staffing metrics), etc. The Magnet recognition program provided a blueprint for transforming and sustaining professional nursing practices, which could be used to align the patient-specific outcomes related to nursing sensitive indicators. During the Magnet application process, the NDB reports were restructured to reflect three key Magnet domains of: Administrative Practice; Professional Practice; and, Professional Development. These domains were standardized across all nursing units and Service Lines at York Hospital. The redesign effort also included the standardization of unit-specific performance improvement bulletin board displays, which included new layouts of the information with clear Headers and attachments.

Evaluation:
By restructuring the Nursing Dashboards into the domains of the Magnet recognition program and standardizing bulletin board displays, this facility created improved dissemination and understanding of key nursing indicators affecting patient outcomes. The Staff can understand the data and see trends.

Implications for Practice:
This poster shows how a Magnet facility transformed it's stogy data laden Nursing Dashboard report into a communications tool understood by the entire nursing staff and improved understanding the key indicators of patient outcomes by alignment with the major Magnet program domains and principles.
