The American Nurses Association is hosting the inaugural annual National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI®) data use conference on January 30-31, 2007, in Las Vegas, Nevada at The Flamingo Hotel. To receive a complete conference brochure as soon as it’s available, please e-mail: meetings@ancc.org or visit www.nursingworld.org/quality/conference/.

NDNQI® has been a leader in collecting nursing-sensitive indicators at the unit level since 1998. The database collects structure, process and outcome indicators from 1,000 participating hospitals throughout the United States. This unique conference provides the opportunity to:

  1. Discover how hospitals use NDNQI reports to improve the quality of nursing care
  2. Identify the latest research on how nurse staffing affects patient outcomes
  3. Describe the latest mandates for public reporting initiatives
  4. Receive training in the newest data collection practices for nursing-sensitive indicators
  5. Identify cost savings achieved with quality improvement
Proposals are being sought for presentations or posters in the following topic areas:
  1. Using Quality Indicators to Achieve Quality Improvement
  2. Evidence Based Practices
  3. The Business Case for Quality
  4. Improving RN Satisfaction and Retention
  5. Public Reporting and Nursing Sensitive Indicators
  6. Strategies for Implementing and Maintaining Effective Indicator Data Collection
Proposals must be submitted online. All correspondence will be conducted via email with the primary contact person, so please submit a valid e-mail address. The primary contact person is responsible for communication with other faculty and ensuring that copyright laws are not violated. Submission of a proposal indicates your commitment to be in the program. All presenters must register for the conference. Presenters are expected to assume costs related to travel, accommodations and registration. The proposals will be reviewed by a peer-review committee. Presenters will be notified by October 31, 2006 and, if selected, will be notified of deadlines for the submission of handouts and other details.
